Te Uru Contemporary Art | Auckland, New Zealand

SAHA supports Te Uru Contemporary Gallery within the scope of&nbsp,Fatma Bucak’s first solo exhibition titled&nbsp,The Sound of a Setting Sun,&nbsp,in the Southern Hemisphere between&nbsp,6 September – 23 November 2025. Bringing together a selection of recent works by the artist, alongside a newly commissioned installation and a performance video, the exhibition charts Bucak’s ongoing conceptual and poetic approaches to loss. Working across photography, performance, sound, video, and installation, Bucak addresses the consequences of ecological collapse and geopolitical tension, often by highlighting the impacts of human activity on animals and plants.

Fatma Bucak (1984) lives and works between Istanbul and London. She studied Philosophy at Istanbul University and History of Art and Etching at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts before completing her Master of Art in Photography at the Royal College of Art. Since 2008, Bucak has worked across photography, performance, sound, video, and installation to address the consequences of geopolitical tension and climate change on people and culture, as well the impacts of human activity on animals and plants.
