SAHA supports ,Haus der Kulturen der Welt ,for the new projects by ,Gülsün Karamustafa ,and ,Pınar Öğrenci ,as part of the exhibition, ,Global Fascisms ,between ,13 September – 7 December 2025. The exhibition and research project ,Global Fascismspresents a critical examination of the aesthetic, social, and political dynamics of fascism, examining its impact and ideological workings. The project focuses on historical and contemporary contexts in which far-right ideologies thrive, questioning notions of ,identity, community, and belonging.
The exhibition brings together works by ca. 50 international artists who respond to the rise of fascist ideologies through a variety of media, including painting, film, performance, discourse, publications, and digital formats. Historical artworks complement the group exhibition, creating surprising connections between past and present. The exhibition offers insights into the ideological seduction and aesthetics of fascist ideologies, while analysing the social and technological developments underlying these movements.While Pınar Öğrenci participates with her new work titled Student Border Water, Gülsün Karamustafa produces a work titled Reminder.
Gülsün Karamustafa (Ankara,1946)is considered one of the most important and celebrated artists of the second half of the 20th century. Karamustafa’s work foregrounds issues of migration, pop culture and feminism, interweaving personal and historical narratives. Karamustafa’s practice has been strongly linked to relevant socio-political debates, and her work has influenced younger generations of Turkish artists, reating intergenerational critical dialogues and affective female art genealogies.
Pınar Öğrenci(Van,1973).In her films and installations, artist and filmmaker Pınar Öğrenci engages with cultural strategies that are crucial to the history, memory and survival of communities undergoing border conflicts and forced migration. Öğrenci’s artistic language foregrounds the intergenerational transmission of stories, often created and disseminated through popular genres and practices, from poetry to music to public action. She lives in Berlin.
