CANDYLAND | Stockholm, Sweden

SAHA supports Candyland within the scope of Sanem Odabaşı’s solo exhibition held between 22 August – 14 September 2025.

Silent Gardens&nbsp, explores the traces left behind by nature, memory, and time through layered textile surfaces and evocative marks. It does not present nature itself, but what remains of it: the things that brush against us quietly, the ones we carry unknowingly. It follows not what is, but what endures-delicate yet resilient presences. In this exhibition, the garden is not a lush, blooming landscape, but a contemplative space, where absence speaks and presence leaves a mark as it passes. Stains of color, the swaying of branches, and thoughts that ripple from an inner conversation become the elements of this garden.

The textile works produced for this exhibition are like gently parted curtains in the narrative. Their layered structures, delicate textures, and softly worn surfaces reflect the porous and fragmented nature of memory. Rather than depicting a plant directly, each piece holds what the plant leaves behind: a shadow, a stain, a surface… Abstracted and reimagined through the artist’s eye: a stone, a branch, a tree. Working with cotton, linen, silk, and plant-based dyes, the artist does not portray nature as an image, but engages with it as an intuitive, temporary partnership.

Sanem Odabaşı&nbsp,(b. 1989, Eskişehir, Turkey) is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores themes of time, nature, and memory. Through textile surfaces, repair techniques, natural dyes, and poetic visual language, she traces the enduring imprints of life. She is drawn to the quiet, the minimal, and the resonant—working with overlooked objects, traces, and textures, which she reinterprets through a contemporary aesthetic lens.
