Haus der Kunst München | Munich, Germany

SAHA supports Haus der Kunst München within the scope of Gülbin Ünlü’s new exhibition, titled Nostralgia, curated by Lydia Antoniou between 8 May 2025 – 22 February 2026.

Nostralgia&nbsp, expands space and time through subtle interventions in the often overlooked thresholds of the building. Starting at the staff entrance, Gülbin Ünlü invites visitors to explore the building through inaccessible yet present doors. It’s an invitation to traverse the institution without a fixed destination and to engage in the act of allowing encounters. The work becomes a silent choreography of immobility that explores the latent potential of spaces—activated by presence and vibrancy. Rooted in the science fiction idea of portals, the work opens up unexpected encounters—with erased histories, alternate realities, and speculative futures. By drawing attention to non-exhibition spaces, Ünlü encourages a shift in perception: to pause, look again, and understand architecture not as a rigid structure, but as a place where parallel worlds hover—unrealized, constantly changing, shaped not by what is shown, but by the way we see.

Gülbin Ünlü, in her artistic practice, celebrates the mash-up, This is reflected not least in her interdisciplinary approach, which includes painting, artistic collaborations, photo and video work, performance and music, using archives and AI. Her self-developed pictorial technique enables her to deal freely with painting, so that pictures can become sculptures, installations and performances. Overcoming and interweaving genres is a succinct part of her work. The resulting works question the usual categories and classifications.
